Before the coaching staff distributed award plaques and booklets, Redding emphasized several post-season awards. Zach Schafer and Nick Chiocco will participate in the Shriners' game at Gillette Stadium in June. Schafer was also named to the Mass State Coaches All-State Super 25 Team. Letter to the Editor: Highlighting Mansfield Special Olympians

From Kim Piro.

I am writing today to shine a spotlight on a Mansfield high school senior who planned a very special afternoon for 20 of Mansfield High’s special Olympians.  Robbie Lawrence decided to use his senior project to highlight his peers with special needs as they as they work hard toward achieving their goals on April 27.  He planned a pep rally in the high school gym complete with band, cheerleaders, percussion group and a dance from the upcoming musical, West Side Story.  He featured each individual special Olympic athlete with his or her own poster of encouragement and each athlete received a varsity letter.  I was invited to this special event because my daughter was one of those 20 athletes who were honored. It is an absolute understatement…
