Foxboro Legion Suffers Disappointing Loss Against Medfield

Medfield was too much as Foxboro’s season likely came to an end with a 10-4 loss.

After winning four in a row and five in six games, all Foxboro needed to get to the Legion Baseball postseason was one more win. It wasn't an easy task with Medfield in the way. Despite keeping the game close through three innings, Medfield was too much as Foxboro’s season likely came to an end with a 10-4 loss. Foxboro struck first in the bottom of the first inning with a bases loaded single from Tom Brady. The single brought Steve Nagle home to keep the bases loaded and give Foxboro a 1-0 lead. The run would not lead to any momentum as a double play to ended the inning. In the top of the second, Medfield took their first lead of the game. With two outs and Will Cousins on third base, Derek Bouer doubled to score Cousins and tie the game …

Foxboro Legion Bats Pull Through Under Pressure

Mansfield players pull it out again.

It feels like the summer is just beginning, but as July 4th trails behind, so begins the final leg of the American Legion Baseball season. For Westwood Post 320, this season had some growing pains, as the team heads into Friday’s finale against Franklin with a 5-11-1 record overall. Foxborough increased its record to 8-9-0 with this win. Thursday evening’s game at Russell Downes Field in Westwood proved to be a microcosm of Post 320’s season, as a few mental errors gave Foxborough a chance to put two runs on the board and spoil a great pitching performance by Westwood High School pitcher Will Smith. “Will pitched great,” said Post 320 manager Dick Paster following the defeat. “He has pitched great all season long for us. He should have won…

Baseball: Foxboro Legion Gets Big Win Over Norfolk

Foxboro walked away with a 6-3 win over Norfolk.

Foxboro continued their drive to the playoffs Wednesday night with a big win over Norfolk. Getting the lead early, Foxboro escaped a late scare to walk away with a 6-3 win. Foxboro showed that they are capable of getting off to a good start with a big top of the first inning. Nick Carafa's single to right field was enough to bring runner Steve Fitzmaurice home for a 1-0 lead. One batter later, Tom Brady’s single scored Aiden Farrell. Vinny Monahan’s ground out gave Carafa enough time to score and cap off a three-run inning for Foxboro. Aside from a run from Vinny Monahan off of a Chris Johnson single in the top of the fourth inning, things were relatively quiet on both ends for the rest of the game. With Nick Carafa on the mound, Foxboro …

Foxboro Legion Bounces Back With 10-8 Win Over Brookline

Foxboro traded the lead back and fourth with Brookline Post 11 before winning 10-8.

What looked to be a blowout for Foxboro Post 93 quickly turned into a high scoring slugfest. Despite having a 4-0 lead in the first inning, Foxboro traded the lead back and fourth with Brookline Post 11 in a 10-8 win over Brookline. The first inning set the tone for the rest of the game. With the pitching all over the place, the floodgates were open for a hit parade from both teams. “At first it looked like both (teams) were a little wild,” said Brookline coach Patrick Moore. Aiden Farrell started things off with a double to score Steve Fitzmaurice and give Foxboro a 1-0 lead to start the game. Farrell himself would score off of a Mitch Goldenberg single to extend the lead to 2. Foxboro continued to rattle Brookline pitcher Andrew Colgan …
