Mansfield's Greg Hopkins went 2 for 2 with a pair of singles in the Midwest League All-Star Game Tuesday night in Geneva, Ill. His West all-star team dropped an 18-2 decision to the East stars. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers second baseman was voted on to the team by the Western Division managers. Hopkins is leading the Milwaukee Brewers' farm team in homers with seven and a .333 batting average to start the week. The former Bishop Feehan and St. John's University standout is second in RBI with 35. After finishing the first half of the season with 44-25 record, the Timber Rattlers have already clinched a playoff spot in the Midwest League. It's the first time they have made the playoffs since the 2005 season.

(A Press Release from Midwest League) The Midwest League recognized something that the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have known for a couple of weeks. Rattlers infielder Greg Hopkins was named the Hitter of the Week in the MWL on May 7 for his performance from April 30 through May 6. Hopkins, a 24th round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers out of St. John's in 2010, went 11-for-20 with a double, a triple, two homers, six runs scored, and eight RBI in just five games last week. He also struck out just one time and stole a base. The right-handed hitter has been on a tear since April 20. He has at least one hit in 14 of his last 15 games played (22-for-58). Mansfield's Greg Hopkins, a former standout at Bishop Feehan High and St. John's University, is playing third base for the Milwaukee Brewers' Single A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Mansfield's Greg Hopkins is back for his second year with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Midwest League in the Milwaukee Brewers' organization. The Timber Rattlers are a Single A team. Hopkins is the third baseman for the club, who will be playing at South Bend tonight at 6:05 p.m. After a standout career at St. John's University and Bishop Feehan High School, Hopkins was the 24th round pick of the Brewers in 2010. In the first 14 games of the season, Hopkins was .231 with eight runs scored, six RBI and a stolen base. Last year, Hopkins batted .229 with seven homers, 53 RBI and 16 stolen bases.

Mansfield's Greg Hopkins finished the first half of the season for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers with a .244 batting average with two homers and 21 RBI at third base. The Timbers finished seven games out of first place with a38-32 record in the Midwest League MidWest Division. After the all-star break, they will open up the second half of the season at Quad Cities Friday night. Quad Cities claimed a wild card slot in the first half with a 40-27 record. Mansfield's Greg Hopkins went 3 for 5 with two RBI, batting in the clean-up spot for the Wisconsin Rattlers defeated Lake County, 14-2, Wednesday night at home. The third baseman had a triple in the second inning. On the season, the Bishop Feehan and St. John's University product was batting .243, 41 for 169, with five doubles, two triples and 15 RBI. Hopkins also had seven stolen bases and scored 20 runs. The Rattlers are a farm team of the Milwaukee Brewers and play in the Midwest League.

Third baseman singles, sacrifices in loss to Cougars.
Mansfield's Greg Hopkins had a ninth inning single and a sacrifice bunt earlier in the game, but the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers loast to the Kane County Cougars Sunday, 5-4, in 11 innings in Class A Midwest League action. The third baseman was batting .208 in 42 games, going 30 for 114 with a two doubles, a triple and five stolen bases in his second year of professional baseball in the Milwaukee Brewers' organization. Hopkins, who played at Bishop Feehan, was signed out of St. John's University. The Timber Rattlers were 27-25 going into Wednesday's action after losing to Bowling Green Hot Rods Tuesday night.
