Kosilek Wants State to Pay for Electrolysis Treatments

Convicted killer Michelle Kosilek is asking for the state to pay for electrolysis treatments, while she waits for a sex change operation.

  After U.S. District Court Chief Judge Mark L. Wolf said the state has to pay for convicted killer Michelle Kosilek's sex change operation, the 63-year-old former Mansfield resident now wants the state to pay for his electrolysis treatments, while he waits for the surgery. Kosilek, who was convicted of killing his wife in 1990, says he is a man trapped in woman's body for gender disorder. A hearing is taking place today to see if Kosilek will get the treatments. In the past, Wolf has refused to OK them. Kosilek, who was known as Robert, when he was arrested in also asking the court to be referred as Michelle in the proceedings and a request is being made for the state to play Kosilek's public defenders $806,500 for their services over the…

U.S District Court Judge Who Ruled in Kosilek Case Stepping down

Chief Judge Mark L. Wolf, who made the ruling in the Michelle Kosilek case, is stepping down.

  U.S. District Court Chief Judge Mark L. Wolf, who made the ruling to allow Michelle Kosilek the right to have a state-funded sex change operation, will be stepping down as a senior judge Jan. 1, according to a report in the Boston Herald. Kosilek, who was known as Robert Kosilek, was living in Mansfield when he was convicted of murdering his wife. Wolf said in September that the Department of Correction has to provided a sex-reassignment surgery. Just last month, he issued a controversial ruling ordering the Department of Correction to provide sex-reassignment surgery for convicted murderer Robert Kosilek, who now goes by Michelle.
