Keep Mansfield Beautiful Celebrates Fourth Year

The Keep Mansfield Beautiful Committee turns four this month.

The Keep Mansfield Beautiful Committee, founded by Neil Rhein, started over four years ago and shows no signs of stopping. "We've got a long list of accompishments for four years," Rhien said.  The group started with basic litter cleanup and pressing community leaders to take an interest in cleaning up the town. Now, the Great Mansfield Cleanup is a major event with hundreds of volunteers combing the streets for litter. "We've been raising awareness in the community about the fact that the appearence of the community matters," he said. "Residents, business owners and even town government are paying more attention to these things now." Litter cleanup isn't the only thing the group is doing. Viewfinder: Mansfield Cleanup Day

Here's a slide show of some of the 800 volunteers who participated in the Keep Mansfield Beautiful Cleanup Day on Saturday

Yellow trash bags littered the streets this weekend as over 800 volunteers pulled up their sleeves to pick up trash for the fourth annual Keep Mansfield Beautiful Clean Up Day. Volunteers could be seen nearly everywhere; with distinctive yellow shirts marking where they are cleaning up and piles of yellow trash bags marking where they've been. Around 12 p.m. all work stopped and volunteers took a well-earned lunch at the Comcast Center.
