Mansfield pet owners can honor their pets now in this garden.
A restful, landscaped, pet memorial garden is available at Mansfield Animal Shelter for pet owners to honor the memory of pets who have passed away. The project was conceived and implemented by Cole Putnam, a Life Scout in Troop 7 of Foxboro. Cole worked on the project as part of extensive requirements to obtain his Eagle Scout Rank, which he hopes to accomplish soon. Helping Cole were fellow scouts, and friends from Foxboro High School, where Cole is a senior, graduating in June. Bushes, with pink blossoms in the spring, are the backdrop for the garden. To one side of the garden is a boulder with the engraving: "Pet Memorial Garden." In the garden center, a stone walkway leads to a granite bench. On either side of the walkway the garden …

The fund raising event on Saturday roused the town, human and animal alike.
The Mansfield Animal Shelter hosted the 16th annual Celebration of Animals on Saturday to great fanfare. Ana Villella was with the animal shelter since the beginning, and also volunteered at the event and most of the previous Animal Celebrations. “When we started it was a lot smaller,” she said. “We did it just to raise funds for the shelter.” Though the event started with humble beginnings, it has grown to include a good number of activities, vendors and pet-based services. Vendors from all over the area came to help bolster the event. They had 12 vendors, four cat rescue groups and six dog rescue groups. Villella said that since the shelter is run through a nonprofit organization, the town doesn't pay for the shelter's expenses. They use…

Chattham is a 15-year-old female cat who currently resides at the Mansfield Animal Shelter. She was recently surrendered and would like to find a new home. She is a quiet cat who spends most of her days at the shelter just relaxing on her perch. She is a bit shy but is friendly and welcomes attention. It is hard to not pay attention to her when she flashes those big green eyes. If you are looking for an older, kind-natured cat, Chattham would be great for you. Stop by the shelter at 175 Fruit St during their regular hours to spend some time getting to know her.

One of the newest surrenders to the Mansfield Animal Shelter is a 5-year-old male cat named Buttercup. He is waiting for someone to take him home. He is an affectionate and congenial cat. He enjoys being pet, but seems to be more comfortable when it's on his terms. He is a quiet cat who generally keeps to himself and, for that reason, he would be best suited in a quiet household. If you are able to love and care for Buttercup, visit him at the shelter at 175 Fruit St to get to know him.

The Animal Rescue Site's Shelter Challenge could bring money for Mansfield Shelter.
Voting for The Animal Rescue Site’s quarterly Shelter Challenge is under way and the Mansfield Animal Shelter is asking for your help to push them to the top of the polls. The Animal Rescue Site was established in 2002. It is a charity site that raises money through advertising and sales. They currently provide $1 million in funding per year to animal rescue charities nationwide, according to Rosemary Jones, PR representative for The Animal Rescue Site and its parent company, GreaterGood Network. The majority of the fund distribution is determined by The Animal Rescue Site but they set aside $300,000 annually and allow visitors of the site to decide how the money will be allocated in four, three month long voting periods. Visitors can …
