The Warriors had a 2-0 lead with 18:55 to play but Mansfield came back to get a 2-2 draw.
Last time the Foxborough Warriors got together with the Mansfield Hornets for a game of field hockey, the Hornets walked away with a 1-0 win due to a late game goal. The excitement levels managed to get higher in their Hockomock Crossover rematch. In the battle of the league's second place teams, there was no clear winner as the Warriors and the Hornets played to a 2-2 draw. Mansfield clearly dominated the first half with an 8-0 advantage in shots and a 4-1 advantage in short corners. Winning the possession battle in the first half, the Hornets controlled the ball well but still couldn’t get a good look at the net. “We were not able to get a good solid shot on goal but time of possession was totally in our favor," said Mansfield coach …

Mansfield Field Hockey never loses the lead and wins 3-1.
Mansfield Girls Varsity Field Hockey dominated Hopkinton Friday 3-1. Mansfield never let go of the lead, and Hopkin was rarely able to threaten at all during the game. "I would go so far as to say as far as a team play, this was our best team effort," said head coach Theresa DeGirolamo. Mansfield scored early, with two goals in the first half. Mansfield was able to stop any breakaway drive that Hopkinton tried to get off, and only let one goal through in what was a melee of sticks and shouting. The Hornets kept their defense tight, leading the Hopkinton offense into each other like a ballet. "We had several double teams, we channeled Hopkinton into our other teammates, we overlapped," DeGirolamo said. "We played great today." Mansfield …

Mansfield beats Foxboro with a 1-0 win after scoring on a 5 minute power play.
Foxborough coach Melissa Bordieri is going to have to wait at least a few more days for win number 100. A tight game between two rivals ended in one of the rarest ways as far as field hockey goes. Scoring on a late power play, the Hornets broke a scoreless tie to walk away with a 1-0 win. The lone goal was not without controversy. After Katie Ennis did not give Mansfield seven yards on a free hit, the official penalized Ennis with a yellow card and a 5-minute penalty to give the Hornets a power play with 8:24 left in the game. “That hurt us no doubt,” said Bordieri The harsh penalty, which was given after Ennis received a green card as a warning for the same infraction in the first half, was seen as a very strict ruling. “It seemed like …

Mansfield field hockey moves to 2-0 after beating King Philip, 4-2.
Mansfield High field hockey team defeated the King Philip Warriors, 4-2, Monday. Mansfield’s Kelsey Kiley got the Hornets on the board rather quickly beating KP's Molly Ahern 30 seconds into the contest. The Hornets built their first half lead to three as Lil Cooper and Meg Carroll also put the ball in the back of the KP net, before the Warriors’ Rachel Lomp cut into the Mansfield lead late in the half. KP's Ashley Avery got the home team to within one with only three minutes remaining on the clock. The Warrior offense pushed hard to get the tying goal, but Mansfield keeper Lissy Doherty kept KP at bay. Mansfield's Meg Doherty supplied the dagger with a beautiful goal over Ahern’s right shoulder to the upper corner of the net to drop the…
