When Boston needed the help of local police and fire departments in the wake of the Boston Marathon Bombing, Mansfield answered. According to NAFD, there was a dump truck on fire with a load of wood chips smoldering. North Attleboro reports that they will handle it. 7:09 p.m. - A caller reported a bucket of a white powdery material on the sidewalk near Cindy's Dance Studio on East Street. Mansfield police confirmed it was a bucket of unmixed mortar. Early this morning, Mansfield Fire responded to a fire in an apartment unit on Fulton Place
Early Friday morning, Mansfield fire and local departments providing mutual aid assisted with extinguishing a fire located in a set of apartments on 15 Fulton Place. According to scanner reports and Mansfield fire, flames started to appear from one of the buildings a little before 2 a.m. The fire was located in the second story of the wooded frame building with three units. Crews from Mansfield, Norton, Attleboro, Sharon, Foxborough, and North Attleboro responded to the fire, taking about a half-hour to get the flames under control. While there were no injuries, eight pepole were displaced due to the fire. According to the Sun Chronicle, there was about $80,000 in structual damage and content. May 6 11:55 a.m. Caller reported a small mulch fire on North Main Street. Mansfield Fire extinguished the fire. May 7 11:50 a.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting a small brush fire at the Route 95 North rest station. May 8 9:29 a.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting an outside fire on Elm Street. Fire was found to be a legal burn by a neighbor. May 9 12:05 a.m. Caller reported a motor vehicle collision on Route 95 South. Two patients were extracted from the vehicle. Both victims were transported to Rhode Island Hospital. May 11 1:44 p.m. Caller reported a motor vehicle collision on Route 495 North. One vehicle reported over the guardrail. No serious injuries were reported.

Mansfield Firefighters Local 1820 raised $17,720.50 for childhood cancer research.
From Mansfield Firefighters Local 1820: Mansfield Firefighters Local 1820 held a charitable fundraiser this past Thursday on April 25th for the St. Baldricks Foundation. This foundation allows volunteers to raise money for Childhood Cancer research. The total amount of money raised for this great cause was $17,720.50. The local would like to say "Thank You" to every one that had a part in the success of this fundraiser and we could not have done this without the support of our community and the businesses that made this possible. The event was held at TGI Fridays in Mansfield and this is the third consecutive year we have held our fundraiser at this venue. TGI Fridays donated 10% of their food proceeds during the event. Mansfield fire extinguished a fire this morning on Stearns Ave.
At a little past 11 a.m. this morning, Mansfield fire responded to a house fire on Stearns Ave. after receiving a report of smoke coming out of the home. According to Fire Chief Neal A. Boldrighini, the fire started in the kitchen before working it’s way up into the attic. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire was put out about 20 minutes after fire crews arrived on the scene. Firefighters did have to make a hole in the roof of the home to assist with removing smoke from the attic. One female was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation. The family living in the home was displaced due to extensive smoke and fire damage. UPDATE- Saturday 6:41 p.m. Three Mansfield residents have been displaced after a basement fire in a home at 543 Fruit Street near the Norton line. “There was fire damage in one room and heat and smoke damage throughout the house,” said Mansfield Fire Lt. William Burgess. “They won’t be able to stay there, they’ll have to find alternate housing for the night,” he said. Burgess said the Red Cross will be assisting the family. Two adults and four children have been displaced and one person was injured after an early morning 2-alarm house fire on Highland Ave. in Mansfield. According to Lt. John Terry of the Mansfield Fire Department, the cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to have started from candles that were lit in a bedroom due to a power outage in the neighborhood. “Just prior to the fire they had a car snap a pole in half on [Copeland Street]. That area of town lost power and I guess they were trying to illuminate the area with candles,” Terry said.
