Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Garage Fire, TT Crash and Collisions

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and EMS log from Dec. 17 to Dec. 23, 2012.

Nov. 17 4:05 p.m. A caller on Jacob Drive reported a fire and heavy smoke coming from the garage. Embers from the fireplace had gotten into the heating system. Power to the house was cut and a small extension was extinguished. 7:33 p.m. Callers reported a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of North Main Street and Chauncy Street. Two patients were taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Dec. 18 10:22 a.m.  State police reported a tractor trailer had crashed a large amount of fuel had spilled on Route 495 North. 2:10 p.m.  Caller reported a vehicle in the woods at the onramp of Route 140 North from Route 495 South. Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Collisions, Collisions and more Collisions

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and EMS log from Dec. 3 to Dec. 9.

Dec. 3 11:51 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a freight train/motor vehicle collision on Forbes Boulevard. One victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital via medflight after the victim extracted himself. Dec. 4 6:10  a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision on School Street. No injuries were reported but a minor fluid leak had to be cleaned up. Dec. 5 8:00 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a three-vehicle collision on route 95. Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Grill Fire, Gas Leak and Collision

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and EMS log from Nov. 18 to Nov. 25, 2012.

Nov. 19 4:56 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a grill fire on Concetta Drive. Firefighters found it to be a mechanical error with the girll. The fire was extinguished. Nov. 20 3:44 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision with injury at the Stop and Shop parking lot. One patient was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Nov. 21 12:58 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a kitchen fire on School Street. Nov. 23 2:18 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a gas leak on Hampden Road. The gas leak was confirmed and the area evacuated.

Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Machine Fire, Guardrail and Collisions

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and EMS Log from Nov. 4 to Nov. 9, 2012.

Nov. 5 5:46 a.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of School Street and Sean Drive. One patient was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. 5:07 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle hitting a guardrail on Route 140 and West Street. Nov. 6 6:20 p.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting smoke at the Belknap and White building. A fire in one of the compressors in the mechanical room was found to be the cause. It was extinguished and no one was injured. Nov. 8 4:54 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting the smell of gas at a residence on Fieldstone Drive. Mansfield Firefighters Deployed in NJ, NY and CT to Help with Relief Efforts from Sandy

Three Mansfield firefighters, along with many in the state, have been deployed to help out in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Mansfield Firefighters, members of Federal Urban Search and Rescue section of the Federal Emergency Management Association, are working now in storm areas of the country affected by Sandy. The three firefighters have been members of the division for a long time, accoding to Mansfield fire chief Neal Boldrighini said. “They were out in Irene, they were out in the tornadoes and they were there at (September 11),” he said. Bruce Naslund, Mark Goyette and Gerald MacNamara volunteered and were deployed in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. “They’re long-term members, they really get into it, they come back pretty exhausted and they’ve done an incredible amount of work,” he said. “They never brag about it.” Search and rescue involves locating…

Oct. 22 5:37 p.m. North Attleboro Fire reported a vehicle off the roadway on Route 95 North. Oct. 24 10:00 a.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting a microwave fire on Squire Avenue. Oct. 25 8:12 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a vehicle fire on Hampshire Street near a building. The fire in the vehicle was knocked down and did not extend to the building. 7:03 p.m. Caller reported an oven fire on Potash Road. Heavy smoke permeated the building and the oven was removed. Oct. 16 1:37 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision at the underpass on Chauncy Street. One victim was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Oct. 17 4:31 p.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a mulch fire near the Bank of America on North Main Street. The fire was extinguished. Oct. 18 1:54 p.m. Mansfield EMS responded to a mutual aid call in Plainville at the Race Course when two horses collided and injured the jockeys. Both were transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Oct. 19 12:48 p.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting fire at 150 Rumford Ave. Firefighters located the problem at a kitchen appliance, which was sparking heavily and caused a fire. Sept. 17 11:53 a.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting a mulch fire on North Main Street near the Bank of America.  Reported to be part of an “ongoing problem,” the fire was extinguished. Sept. 19 2:07 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting smoke coming from a building on East Street. The smoke was found to be coming from a plant pot outside the house, presumably from a discarded cigarette. Sept. 21 7:24 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a mutual aid call from Foxborough reporting a three-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Route 95 North. Sept. 5 7:58 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a mutual aid call in North Attleboro on Route 95. Sept. 6 3:46 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision on Oakland Street. Patients were treated on-scene for minor injuries. Sept. 7 3:37 p.m. Mansfield EMS responded to a call reporting a medical condition after a motor vehicle collision. One person was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. 7:31 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision between the Route 140 and Route 95 exit on Route 495 north. Two patients were transported to Rhode Island Hospital and Sturdy Memorial Hospital respectively.
