Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Collisions, Trains Wheels and Fireworks

The following is from the Mansfield Fire Log from Aug. 27 to Sept. 3 in 2012.

Aug. 27 1:06 p.m. Mansfield EMS responded to a mutual aid call in Foxborough.  Aug. 28 8:28 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision on Route 495 North at the Route 95 North. Patients were evaluated and treated on-scene. Aug. 30 12:00 p.m. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority reported smoke coming from one of the wheels of their train. The smoke was caused by a brush caught in one of the wheels. Sept. 1 10:29 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Cabot Boulevard and Hampshire Street. Aug. 21 3:02 p.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting a fluid leak on Pratt Street after a minor motor vehicle collision. 5:09 p.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting a dumpster fire on Plymouth Street. The fire was put out and the dumpster was removed. 5:36 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Elm Street and Elm Terrace. No victims were reported injured at the time. Aug. 22 3:47 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motorcycle accident on Route 495 North. Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: HazMat, Truck Rollover and Grill Fire

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and EMS Log.

Aug. 6 8:10 a.m. Massachusetts State Police reported a tractor-trailer rollover on Route 95 North on the on ramp to Route 495 South. The driver was evaluated on-scene and the vehicle was turned upright and towed away. There was a significant oil spill cleaned up at the scene. 2:54 p.m. Caller reported a grill fire within ten feet of the house on Mill Street. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes of the initial call. Aug. 7 12:09 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a five-car motor vehicle collision on Route 95 before exit five. Collision involved vehicles on both sides of the highway. Patients were evaluated and treated on-scene. Aug. 8 1:09 p.m. Caller reported a mulch fire on West Street near the Erin Center …

Car Fire in Mansfield on 95

Fire in Mansfield had to be put out twice.

Mansfield Firefighters responded to a call on Friday reporting a car fire at about 6:30 on Friday. The vehicle was engulfed on the exit 6A on ramp, and was initially reported to the Massachusetts State Police. Traffic was reportedly backed up all the way to the Route 295 exit in Attleboro, because of emergency vehicles. When the vehicle was extinguished, no one was reported hurt at the time. A full hour and a half later, Mansfield Police reported having the vehicle in their custody and it started smoldering, after it had been cleared and moved off the highway. Mansifeld fire put the vehicle out again at around 8 a.m.

Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Motorcycle Ejection, Four-Car MVA and Multiple Mulch Fires

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and Emergency Services Log.

July 11 12:05 p.m. Mansfield Fire covered the Foxborough station during a structure fire on Washington Street. July 12 4:43 p.m. Caller reported a mulch fire in the area of the Bank of America ATM on North Main Street. The fire was extinguished with no damage to surrounding structures. July  13 7:35 a.m. Caller reported a smell of smoke on Williams Street and Mansfield firefighters found that a truck had hit overhead wires. A line had been downed during the incident. July 14 2:35 a.m. . Caller reported a mulch fire in the area of the Bank of America ATM on North Main Street. Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Collisions, Tree Down and Bass Pro Shop Fire

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and Emergency Medical Services log.

July 2 2:45 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a two-vehicle head on collision at Mansfield crossing. Two patients were transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. 4:55 p.m. Callers reported a tree down on Dean Street and power out. The Mansfield Municipal Electric Department removed the tree and restored power. July 4 12:36 a.m. Caller reported a dumpster fire not near a building on Hope Street. The fire was extinguished. July 6 6:17 a.m. Mansfield EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision on Court Street. Patient was evaluated on the scene and refused transport to a local hospital. July 7 8:54 p.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a mutual aid call reporting a fire at the Bass Pro Shop in Foxborough.

Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Gas Leak, MVA and Severe Hand Trauma

The following is from the Mansfield Fire and EMS Log from June 18 to June 24.

The Mansfield Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to a total of 53 calls last week. June 18 5:27 p.m. Mansfield EMS responded to a mutual aid call regarding a motor vehicle collision on Main Street in Foxborough. One patient was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. 10:50 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting an outside odor of natural gas on North Main Street. The buildings in the area showed negative for gas levels but the street itself showed positive. The gas company confirmed that there was a leak coming from the road way itselt. The manholes on the street were ventilated and gas readings dropped significantly. The gas company was able to find and mitigate the leak. June 19 1:49 p.m. …

The Mansfield Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to a total of 67 calls last week.   June 5 7:33 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a vehicle rollover on Route 495 North. One patient was evaluated on scene and refused transport to a local hospital. June 6 11:32 p.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call from Foxborough for a car fire on Route 95 North. June 7 12:40 a.m. Detail officers at the Comcast Center reported a trash fire in the middle of the parking lot. The fire was extinguished. 5:54 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Tremont Street and West Street. Mansfield Fire Department responded to a total of 43 calls last week. May 29 4:58 a.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting a small fire on the fire at the Mansfield Train Station. 8:49 a.m. Mansfield EMS responded to a mutual aid call on West Main Street in Norton. One victim was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. May 31 6:31 p.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting an inside odor of gas. Readers showed 55 parts per million, and the gas company was called and fixed the leak. No one reported feeling any illness. June 1 9:54 a.m. Caller reported seeing smoke coming out of an outlet in a residence on 11 Kybren Circle after power was shut off at the break. The Mansfield Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services Team responded to 51 calls last week.   May 9 12:59 a.m. Mansfield Fire and EMS responded to a call reporting a smoke condition at the Kyoto Restaurant. Mansfield Firefighters secured the area and found the issue to be a smoldering item of food. The building was vented afterwards. May 10 10:55 a.m. Robinson School officials called reporting receiving an envelope containing an “unknown white powder substance.” Mansfield Fire and EMS personnel assisted the Massachusetts Hazardous Materials Response unit in containing, isolating and removing the substance.
