Raymond F. Bedard, 86, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy J. (Goyea) Bedard, who died on March 7, 2009. Mr. and Mrs. Bedard were wed on February 28, 1948. Born in Fall River, MA on March 7, 1926, he was a dear son of the late Adelard and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Bedard. Ray spent his early childhood living in Boston. At age 10, his family moved to Foxboro where he continued growing up and was a graduate of Foxboro High School. During World War II, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He later graduated from Northeastern University. Jean Verzola Henry, 60, of Andover died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Mansfield, Jean was the daughter of William and Catherine (Pellegrini) Verzola and sister to Frances Verzola, all deceased. She is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, John T. (Jack) Henry; her brother, Michael Verzola of Cincinnati; and her sister, Lisa Tighe of Mansfield. Jean was also sister-in-law to Richard P. and Kathleen Henry, James and Joan Cassin, and Carol Verozla and Phillip Tighe; aunt to Kirstin, Matt, Gina, Beth, Erin, Jimmy, Lori and Michael; great-aunt to six; and cousin to many both here in the United States and in Italy. Long-time Mansfield residents and community leaders Norman and Gloria Vickery, died recently at the ages of 90 and 89. Gloria died at her home in Pocasset on September 24 and Norman at Falmouth Hospital after a short illness on November 26. Gloria A. DeLong was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts to Esther M. (Hogquist) and Vernon M. DeLong. The family moved to Mansfield when Gloria was very young. She and Norman met while skating on Fulton's Pond as high school students. She attended Mansfield High School and Northfield Academy in Northfield, Massachusetts, and attended Westbrook Junior College (now Westbrook College) in Portland, Maine. Norman A. Thomas S. Mello, 68, a resident of Mansfield, died at Norwood Hospital Sunday, Nove. 18. Born and raised in Fall River, he was a graduate of Durfee High School. He was a resident of Mansfield for two years after living in Stoughton, Foxboro and Dracut for several years. Mr. Mello worked in several divisions at Raytheon in Waltham, Norwood and Andover for over 25 years before retiring six years ago. He was a member of IBEW Local 1505. Nikolai G. Amov, 91, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Golden Living Center on George St. in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Ingrid H. (Schimmer) Amov, to whom he was wed on April 29, 1969. Born in Bulgaria on October 5, 1921, he was a son of the late George and Alexandrina (Vassilieff) Afressimoff. Nikolai grew up and was educated in France. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 28 years and was a former resident of Dedham. Born in Weymouth, MA on August 25, 1943, she was a dear daughter of Margaret L. (Cook) Nilsson of Weymouth and the late August E. Nilsson. She grew up in East Weymouth and was a 1960 graduate of Weymouth High School. Prior to retiring, Mary had been employed for over 20 years in the medical billing department at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Rockland. Alfred J. Borriello, 91, of Mansfield, formerly of Belmont passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. He was the beloved husband of the late Mildred E. (Porcello) Borriello, to whom he was wed on June 10, 1946. Mrs. Borriello passed away on February 27, 1991. Born in the North End of Boston on May 19, 1921, he was a dear son of the late Giuseppe and Louisa (Cozzolillo) Borriello. He grew up in the West End of Boston and was educated in Boston public schools. During WWII, Fred proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Army.
