The 20th annual Rotary Club of Mansfield Toys for Tots Campaign had a great year considering the continued state of the economy. We had another great year, over 3300 toys collected. According to the US Marines Volunteer Corps Commander Bruce Aulerich from Swansea, The Mansfield collection is the largest in Bristol County which serves 55 communities. Paul Connor, the Chairman for the Mansfield Rotary Club’s annual collection has organized the event to run smoothly and efficiently. Paul said “Even as people and businesses are feeling the pinch of the economic times, they continue to step up and help out. It is wonderful to see people make the effort to ensure that children have a good Christmas.” We had all Rotarians on deck to help with …
This is the last week to donate.
The deadline to donate to the Toys for Tots program is coming up fast. If you are waiting for the last minute, you have until Dec. 12 to drop off your donations, which will be picked up across town on Dec. 13 (for all those extreme last minute donations). This year the Toys for Tots program, which is run by the United States Marines, will be accepting gifts for U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan as well as the traditional toys for children. The different drop off boxes will be next to each other and marked for which goes where. The Marine Corps. of Swansea will be mailing the gifts straight to Afghanistan so that they arrive in time for the holiday.
