Sobriety Check Scheduled for Bristol County

State police will operate a checkpoint "Friday into Saturday" during "varied hours" on a "public way."

  Massachusetts State Police announced this week a sobriety checkpoint will be set up "Friday into Saturday" during "varied hours" on a "public way" in Bristol County "The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," states a police press release. The release further states, "The selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety." State Police to Hold Sobriety Checkpoint in Bristol County Tonight

The checkpoint will be held in Bristol Country on Friday, April 19 into Saturday, April 20.

Colonel Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced that a “Sobriety Checkpoint” will be implemented by the Massachusetts State Police on a Public Way, in Bristol County on Friday, April 19 into Saturday, April 20. The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from the roadways.  It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorist will be minimized with advanced notice to reduce fear and anxiety.

Vehicles in Bristol County could be stopped at a checkpoint this weekend to determine if the drivers are sober. Massachusetts State Police Make Six Arrests at Canton Checkpoint

The Massachusetts State Police conducted a checkpoint on Neponset Street in Canton Friday.

The Massachusetts State Police's H Troop conducted a checkpoint on Neponset Street in Canton, April 5, resulting in the arrest of six people for OUI alcohol and drugs with two criminal summons and issued 88 civil motor vehicle citations. Mansfield Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Team up for Joint Exercise

The Mansfield Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police recently participated in a joint exercise at a residential structure scheduled for demolition

There’s a reason why the Red Sox and Patriots play pre-season games.  Hitting in a batting cage or practicing field goals does not provide the same learning experience as performing these same tasks when it counts.  Sports are one thing, but how do Emergency Services professionals prepare themselves?  Where do they play their pre-season games? The week of January 7 provided a unique opportunity for the Mansfield Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) teams to sharpen their skills during a joint exercise at a residential structure scheduled for demolition.  The fire department first received consent for the drill from Mansfield …

Mansfield Man Identified as Victim in Rte. 24 Car Crash

The driver of a 2000 Ford Explorer was ejected from the vehicle Wednesday night and is in critical condition, State Police said Thursday.

A Mansfield resident is in critical condition in a Boston hospital after his vehicle crashed on Rte. 24 in Randolph Wednesday night, Massachusetts State Police announced in a statement Thursday morning. The accident occurred around 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, when state troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Milton responded to the Horse Bridge on the northbound side of Rte. 24 in Randolph for a single-vehicle crash involving a 2000 Ford Explorer. A male party was reportedly ejected from the vehicle, according to reports. State Police identified the operator of the vehicle as Andrew Swenson, 23, of Mansfield, who was listed in critical condition Thursday morning at Boston Medical Center. State Police Arrested 1,100 More for OUI in 2012

Massachusetts State Police and local police departments will be out this holiday weekend looking for drunk, impaired and dangerous drivers.

Drunk driving arrests by Massachusetts State Police increased by 30 percent or more than 1,100 drivers, said Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Colonel Timothy Allen at a press conference outside of Massachusetts State Police headquarters in Framingham Friday morning. As of yesterday, Dec. 27, Massachusetts State Police had arrested 4,866 individuals and charged them with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. In 2011, Massachusetts State Police arrested 3,728 individuals. Massachusetts State Police and local police departments will be out in force this holiday weekend looking for drunk, impaired and dangerous drivers on the roads, as part of their Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over holiday campaign. No Injuries Reported in Mansfield Rollover on 495 Ramp

Mansfield Fire and Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene Saturday morning.

Mansfield Fire and Massachusetts State Police personnel responded to a rollover on the ramp from I-495 North onto 95 South Saturday morning, according to scanner reports. No injuries were reported and a tow truck was enroute for the vehicle just before 11 a.m. Saturday. The cause of the accident is under investigation, according to Massachusetts State Police.
