Wheaton Alumni Party Raises Noise Concerns The Norton Board of Selectmen approved a pair of one-day alcohol permits for a function at Wheaton College on May 17, but with some contention. Norton’s Yelle Gym Gets More Repairs The Norton School Committee has requested a town meeting warrant article designed to allow them to fund repairs needed in the Henri A. Yelle gym floor. According to committee members, a pipe underneath the gym floor burst and water damaged the wood in the floor. “Steam and water does significant damage to wood,” school director of finance and operations Barry Nectow said. “We tried to dry it out, but it didn’t work.” This is the second time Norton has needed to repair the gym floor in two years.   House Party Leads to Traffic-Halting Fight on Route 138 in Easton One was arrested Friday evening after a Washington Street party near Stonehill's campus that resulted in a traffic-halting brawl in the middle …

Norton Woman: ‘We Are Lucky to Be Alive’ A Norton mother who was close to the explosions at the Boston Marathon Monday said she is lucky to be alive. "Me, my husband Kevin and my daughter Rachael were at the finish line 50 feet from the explosion, we saw our friend Mike Everson go by and were waiting with our video camera on for our other Norton friends," Nancy Weber told Norton Patch in an email. "I have the explosion on video and our reaction, I screamed run to my daughter and you can see all the feet and chaos. It was horrific! we are so lucky to be alive!" Mansfield Man Charged in Fatal New Hampshire Car Crash A Mansfield man involved in a fatal car accident in Claremont, N.H. has been arrested by policeaccording to the New Hampshire Union Leader. Luke Garlinger, 29, of Mansfield was arrested and charged on Wednesday with negligent homicide for an accident that took place on April 7. Motor Vehicle Stop in Foxborough Leads Police to Massive Drug Bust A motor vehicle stop on Mechanic Street Thursday turned out to be much more for Foxborough police as officers made a drug trafficking bust after discovering 119 grams of cocaine in the operator’s vehicle. Foxborough Police Sgt. John Chamberlin stopped a vehicle on Mechanic Street earlier in the day Thursday where indicators of criminal activity were present, according to the police department’s Facebook page. “Sgt. 22-Year-Old Easton Woman Dies in Overnight Accident Easton is mourning the loss of one of it's own today. Alexandra Hamilton, 22, of Easton passed away at Brigham and Women's hospital Friday from injuries sustained during an overnight accident on Turnpike Street. Canton Man Shot After Answering Doorbell Canton police are searching for an individual suspected of shooting a man in Canton early Friday morning, according to reports. A Chapman Street resident was shot in the neck around 2 a.m. Friday after he opened his front door and someone started shooting, according to a WHDH report. Mansfield Selectmen Decide to Euthanize Milo the Dog Mansfield selectmen voted 3-2 to euthanize Milo the dog Wednesday after hearing from both the victim's family and the dog's family. The dog reportedly attacked 6-year-old Christian Hebert on Jan. 3 while at the house of the dog's owner Michael Bailey. Hebert suffered severe injuries to his face, ear area and thigh. After the vote, the Baileys said they would try to appeal the ruling in court. The board heard statements from both sides as well as from Mansfield animal control officers Jeffrey Collins and Steve Simmons.
