Despite misgivings and past incidents, the new Sake manager was approved.
Mansfield selectmen were cautious Wednesday in approving the proposed new manager of Sake, Mansfield Crossing's live-theater hibachi restaurant, but voted 5-0 in favor. Sake was the recipient in February of three separate liquor license violations and a fine, after a performing chef squirted rice wine into the mouth of an under-aged patron in the presence of his parents. That memory appeared to be fresh in the minds of board members. They weren't inclined to grant the request for a change of manager without some very pointed questions to applicant Michelle Li and her paralegal assistant Andrea Kor. Complicating the procedure was a significant language barrier between the English speaking board and Li, who at times needed Kor's Chinese/…

Taste of the Tri-Town draws big crowd, despite the weather.
The Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce hosted its fourth-annual Oktoberfest on Tuesday to a crowd of hungry, if a little wet, denizens at Mansfield Crossing. Also at the Feb. 9 meeting, over the objections of some on the board, selectmen handed the Mansfield Veterans of Foreign Wars a one-day liquor license suspension, for over-serving its own bar manager. The manager, John Camera, was then involved in a pedestrian accident that resulted in injuries to two people, one of them a toddler. Camara failed a field sobriety test and a Breathalyzer test at the station after he was brought in. "But for the …

My wife and I went to Sake with my son and his wife. We had a ball! It truely is theater. I hope there's a way to salvage the 'squirting of the rice wine' portion of the presentation. I see absolutely nothing wrong with having an ounce or two of Sake squirted into your mouth providing you're of age. Is this really ' delivering free drinks, and promoting a game or contest involving alcohol'? Come …   more ›
