A bomb scare was called into Bridgemedic aearly Friday afternoon.
At 1:40 p.m., Mansfield Police and Fire responded to a phoned in report of a bomb scare at Bridgemedica at 111 Forbes Blvd. According to police, the building was evacuated and officers, firefighters and company personnel subsequently performed a check of the building. It was determined that the threat was false and employees were allowed to re-enter the building. The incident is under investigation by the Detective Division.

Friday afternoon, an armed male robbed Sharon Credit Union in Mansfield.
Updated 7:40 p.m. For the third time since December, the Mansfield branch of Sharon Credit Union has been robbed. The call came in, according to Mansfield Police, at around 1:29 p.m. The caller reported an armed male suspect who allegedly robbed the bank at gun point. This time, the suspect fled through the wooded area, much like the two previous times in in December 2012 and February of this year, and got into a white vehicle, possibly a Toyota Corolla or a Honda, parked on Walnut Street. Police stated the vehicle possibly had a Rhode Island license plate, driven by another party. No arrests were made in relation to either previous incidents. Reports show that Sharon Credit Union was robbed this afternoon at gun point
Update: 5:17 p.m. According to the Sun Chronicle, the two men, one of them using a semi-automatic handgun, were able to escape Sharon Credit Union with an undisclosed amount of money after holding up the bank a little before 1:30 pm. Walking into the bank wearing black hoodies, sunglasses, hats, and clothing to conceal the bottom their faces, the two men took over the bank and demanded money while showing the gun to the tellers. The Volvo used as a getaway car was found abandoned on South Walnut Street. The two men are described as 6'0" and 5'10" and both heavy set. Anyone with information pertaining to the robbery is asked to call Mansfield police at 508-261-7300. This is the second time since December that the bank has been robbed. …

The Rotary Club of Mansfield and major sponsor, Pediatric Dental Care of Mansfield, are once again helping put smiles on the faces of hundreds of needy kids this holiday season. Nov. 13 marks the kick-off of the 20th Annual Toys for Tots Drive to collect and deliver thousands of toys to our area’s disadvantaged children. The campaign is part of a national effort sponsored by the United States Marine Corps. More than 70 local businesses and groups participate in the drive by hosting colorfully decorated boxes that are used as receptacles for collecting donated toys. Thanks to these businesses and the support of their employees and customers, the Rotary Club has been able to collect over 69,600 toys since 1993 to make the holidays happy for…

The Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce, based in Mansfield, is doing quite a bit in the next month. We at the Tri Town Chamber are very excited about our new executive team and our plans for 2012. I am energized to start my second year as president in an increasingly robust local economy. One of my personal missions this year is to better educate local businesses on exactly what the Chamber is and does. The Tri Town Chamber is wrapping up a very successful 2011 that saw the chamber grow membership by 20% in a very challenging economy. We are excited to welcome dozens of new members and the infusion of fresh insights and perspectives that they will bring. While 2011 has been great, we have even bigger plans for 2012! Sharon Credit Union awarded a total of $10,000 in college scholarships to four outstanding local high school graduates. Jim Carlson, President of Sharon Credit Union the Credit Union, along with the Board of Directors and Senior Management Team recently held a reception honoring the four scholarship recipients and their families. During the ceremony, Dudley Davenport, Chairman of the Board presented each of the students a $2,500 check to be used toward their education. “I am proud to acknowledge this group of exceptional students for their academic achievements and community involvement,” stated Davenport. MPD had on it's FB that the incident was at the Bridgemedica. Somebody goofed. The bank's putting up a fence. Should be a deterrent if it's inspected daily for cut-outs. Anyways, don't they have security cameras in and around there for still pics of the perps?Would be curious is they were repeat jobs/same offenders.   more ›
