Mansfield boys' basketball team played well offensively and defensively against Sharon Friday.
The Mansfield High boys' basketball team soundly defeated Sharon, 70-51, at home on Friday in a game that was totally about depth of play. “This will be the first year since I started at least that we always play all 10 guys,” Mansfield head coach Michael Vaughan said. “It gives us energy off the bench… You know that they’re going to make some plays to stay out there and I think that was a huge luxery for us.” While Mansfield’s Ryan Boulter led the game with 19 total points (with five three-pointers), Sharon’s Brian Mukasa wasn’t far behind with 17 total points (three three-pointers). Sharon started the game off strong, but was unable to come out of the half with any force. “We’re a little outmanned right now, we’ve got a couple of guys …

Sharon fights back at the end but Mansfield won 52-47.
The Mansfield girls' varsity basketball team beat Sharon, 52-47, in a barnburner Friday night. While Mansfield had the upper hand in the first half, Sharon came back fighting and the teams were neck and neck in the fourth period. “We showed a lot more poise in the second half than we did in the first,” Sharon head coach Kate Horsmann said. “We missed a lot of easy shots in the first half that we should have made.” Mansfield started off the scoring in the first half, keeping up a strong 10-point lead most of the time. “We led the whole game, but they’re very good; we couldn’t put them away,” Mansfield head coach Michael Redding said. “It looked like we’d get the lead to seven or eight and all of a sudden it’s back down. “ The second half…

But then Sharon's William Ginsberg fired in two goals to bring Sharon to the lead for the rest of the half and the game. "We were up one to nothing and then hit a slump," said Sharon head coach Barry Kaye. "We…
Hornets Beat Eagles 49-19.
The Sharon High School varsity football team got stung Thursday by both its own mistakes and the Mansfield Hornets. Visiting Mansfield capitalized on the Eagles' errors and won, 49-19. "It was pretty evident that at times, we can move the ball and execute," Sharon head coach Dave Morse said. "But, like any team playing a good team, turnovers will kill you. If we turn the ball over, this will continue. If we can fundamentally come together as one group and execute, we will be okay." Mansfield scored on the game's opening drive. Senior captain Gregory Donahue's 2-yard touchdown run, and sophomore Michael Hershman's kick put Mansfield ahead, 7-0, with 6:52 left in the first quarter. The Hornets immediately recovered a fumble on the kickoff …

Match ends 0-0 on Wednesday.
Both the Mansfield and Sharon varsity girls soccer teams left Sharon High on Wednesday without giving up a goal. Or scoring. The Hornets-Eagles match ended 0-0. "We were getting offense. We just couldn't finish," Mansfield head coach Kevin Smith said. "We out-shot them, 8-2, in the first half. And it was a little closer in the second half, but we had opportunities but we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net." Sharon head coach Jon Lavien called Mansfield (5-3-4) "the top team in the Kelley-Rex" Division. "When you play a team like that and go toe to toe with them, it's good for the program," Lavien said. "We could've pulled out a win. But that we didn't lose our composure and we stuck it out at the end is great." Sharon plays …
