(From Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home) Beth A. (Bennett) Flint, age 52, of Mansfield, passed away surrounded by her adoring family, in the comfort of her home, on Thursday, January 31, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Donald B. Flint, to whom she was wed on May 15, 1982. She was born in Rome, N.Y., April 25, 1960 and was a loving daughter of the late Lewis E. and Leah L. (Etu) Bennett. Beth grew up in Rome, N.Y. and was a 1978 graduate of the Rome Free Academy. She furthered her education to become a 1980 graduate of the State University of New York at Cobleskill where she had studied secretarial skills. Magella O. (Roy) Lavenskie, 89, of Mansfield, formerly of Uxbridge, passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Joseph E. Lavenskie, to whom she was wed on Dec. 1, 1945. Born in St. John, Canada on October 11, 1922 she was a daughter of the late Albert and Rose Marie (Marin) Roy. Affectionately known as “Midge”, at an early age, she along with her family moved to the United States and settled in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge. She was educated in Whitinsville schools. A retired nurses aide, Mrs. Lavenskie had worked for over ten years at the Daggett-Crandall - Newcomb home in Norton prior to retiring. At their meeting Wednesday night, the Mansfield Board of Selectmen held a moment of silence for Michaela Smith.
Michaela Smith was remembered at the Mansfield Board of Selectmen’s meeting Tuesday with a moment of silence. Smith, a 16-year-old Mansfield High student, was killed in a car crash Saturday in Foxborough. Selectmen chairman Jess Aptowitz said he spent time with the Smith family this week and offered the town’s support. “We are here for you, a month from now, a year now, how long it takes,” he said. Aptowitz also talked about the vigil held at the high school Tuesday night. “Michaela was a big part of this community,” he said. “Michaela will be solely missed.” Her wake will be today from 4-8 p.m. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield, while a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St., …

Family, friends and men in uniform will say goodbye today to father, grandfather, teacher, firefighter and police officer, Richard W. Pierce. Born in Mansfield, MA, on May 19, 1930, he was a son of the late Clement A. and Margaret H. (Wilson) Pierce. He was raised in Mansfield and was a 1951 graduate of Attleboro Vocational High School. Mr. Pierce received a bachelor’s of science degree in education from Fitchburg State College in 1981. Previously, Pierce was a volunteer firefighter for the Mansfield Fire Department. He served on the Mansfield Fire Department with his father and two of his brothers. He was a proud veteran of the United States. Air Force, having served from his enlistment on December 6, 1951, until his honorable discharge …
