One observer called the trend "upward political mobility" for officials in the Bay State, but that's perhaps not the case with outgoing Lt. Gov. Tim Murray.
As Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray conducts his final full week in state government, he finds himself close to joining familiar ranks of several top elected Bay State officials in the not too distant past. Murray, like with recent governors William Weld and Paul Cellucci, will not finish his last elected term in office. After this coming Sunday, Murray, a Democrat, will become the new president and CEO of his hometown Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, a decision he announced last week. The decision once again raised questions about whether Gov. Deval Patrick will complete his term own term set to expire in early 2015. CBS Boston reports Murray has a new job lined up already.
UPDATE, 12:15 p.m.: The Massachusetts Republican Party was quick to jump on the reports about Murray's resignation, saying Murray is trying "to outrun the scandal that dogs him" in a statement on their website. Military members, veterans and their spouses can now
Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray announced earlier this week new regulations to help make it easier for military members and their families to attain professional licenses. The announcement is part of “An Act Relative to Veterans’ Access, Livelihood, Opportunity, and Resources” (VALOR Act), signed by Governor Deval Patrick in 2012, which requires departments of state government to establish military friendly practices for licensing. “As our military servicemen and women sacrifice their lives for our country they also gain tremendous and unique job training skills that should never be overlooked when seeking employment,” said Lieutenant Governor Murray, Chair of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Veterans’ Services.
