Monday night, Mansfield Fire extinguished a small fire in a light fixture near the roof of the Wendy's on Copeland Drive. A little after 7:00 p.m., the department was notified that there was smoke coming from the top of the building and had the majority of the fire extinguished at about 7:20 p.m. While there was little damage to the building, it is unknown if Wendy's will be able to open for business Tuesday morning. According to the Mansfield Fire Department, there were no injuries and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Officials from the Wendy's Corporation said they haven't formulated a plan to respond to the Affordable Care Act after a Wendy's franchisee in Nebraska announced that they would cut employees hours to avoid providing health care. "We are still reviewing our approach to the Affordable Care Act, when the employer mandate goes into effect in 2014," said Wendy's Corporate Media Contact Bob Bertini of company-operated restaurants. The company does not provide a breakdown of company and franchise restaurants, said Bertini.
