What's your favorite uniquely Mansfield event?

Mansfield, ironically like many other towns, has a unique character all its own. Because of this, it has events that are very rare if not nonexistent in other towns. But which is your favorite? Mansfield Duck Race Mansfield Halloween Parade Chemical Ice Skating Downtown Family Night Tri Town Ocktoberfest Celebration of Animals While these events are not strictly unique to Mansfield, they do engender the character of the town and its inhabitents. Flint Farm Wins Best Ice Cream in Mansfield Best of Reader's Choice

According to our voters, Flint's Farm is the king of Mansfield ice cream.

Flint Farm won this week's Reader's Choice Poll for the best ice cream in Mansfield. The farm, which has been around since 1868, is owned ad operated by Don and Beth Flint (with the help of their sons). The farm features a famous corn maze every year. Flint won out by only three votes with 46 percent of the vote. Not far behind was Sweet N Crafty with42 percent of the vote. Crescent Ridge Dairy came in third with 8 percent of the vote. Their Web site boasts that "Flint Farm has become well known for its 'sweet tooth.'" The ice cream counter sells over 50 flavors, including local favorites such as "Green Monster" and "Cranberry Bog."  Lowfat frozen yogurt and sugar-free items are included on the menu. If the weekend was any clue, then it's starting to get hot. And you know what it means when the thermometer starts to climb. That's right - it's ice cream season. And, this week, we want to know where you go when you take the family out for a treat (or maybe you just want to treat yourself.) Here is a list of some area ice cream spots. A vacation doesn't always mean relocating to a relatively remote local. Sometimes, the best place to go to get away from it all is right in your backyard. But where's the ideal place to go for a so-called staycation? A staycation is defined as  (also spelled stay-cation, stacation, or staykation) is a neologism for a period in which an individual or family stays and relaxes at home, possibly taking day trips to area attractions. Best of Mansfield Readers' Choice: Cibo Matto Caffe Wins for Mother's Day

The results of this week’s Best Of Readers’ Choice series are in. With 13 percent of the votes Cibo Matto Caffe was voted as the Best Place to Celebrate Mother’s Day. Cibo Matto Caffe is a contemporary restaurant serving Italian comfort food. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the food served is innovative. Lunch and dinner are served daily, and there is a brunch on weekends. The food has been described by critics as "Crazy Food," which is the translation of the restaurant's name. Mansfield Florist is Mansfield's Choice for Flowers

Mansfield Florist wins this week's Best of Readers Choice in Mansfield.

The Mansfield Florist beat out this week's competition for the best flowers in Mansfield. The Mansfield icon shop beat out Stobbarts and Stop and Shop for the best florist in town by only seven votes. Mansfield Florist and Stobbarts were neck and neck for much of the week, but Mansfield Florist held on to win it. "Our talented designers can customize floral arrangements that will complement any occasion and meet your budget and style expectations as well," they boast on their Web site. "It is our pleasure to assist you with any local, as well as worldwide deliveries and remember that corporate accounts are always welcome." Best of Patch Reader's Choice: Cheng Du is Mansfield's Choice for Asian Cuisine

Cheng Du wins Mansfield Patch's weekly poll.

Mansfield's Cheng Du won this week's poll for best Asian food in town. Cheng Du beat out Asia Grill and Sushi by one vote this week in a very close race. The Chinese Restaurant touts on its website: "We use the finest ingredients and prepare the most authentic dishes with prompt and friendly service. Our family founded the Cheng-Du Restaurant in 1979 and pioneered the preparation of Szechuan and Mandarin Cuisine. " The restaurant  is located on North Main Street. Next week, we'll be asking readers where they buy their flowers. With the many flower shops around town, it will no doubt be a competitive category.
