Meg Rico got the win for the Warriors, and Olivia Godin hit a two-run homer as the Warriors beat the Hornets.
For the first four-and-a-half innings, it appeared that the showdown between King Philip (2-0) and Mansfield (0-2) was going to be a low-scoring affair, with the winner being the team that could make that one big play. With Mansfield pitcher Trish Hansen throwing an efficient game and KP sensation Meg Rico striking out batters all day, no one was getting a break at the plate. In the bottom of the fifth inning, though, a five-run explosion was all the Warriors needed to win. KP, however, had to hold off a seventh-inning comeback by the Hornets to win 5-4. Mansfield, North Attleboro and King Philip all have a chance to advance.
It has been an exciting year for Hockomock League football and it will come down to the wire this Thanksgiving for both Kelley-Rex and Davenport Division teams. Because Mansfield has allowed the most points, the Hornets will be eliminated and King Philip will advance because of a head to head victory over North Attleboro. If North Attleboro loses…

As good as they had looked during those contests, the Warriors knew their biggest challenge was coming into Wrentham this week. Hockomock League powerhouse Mansfield would be paying Wrentham a visit and would provide the Warriors with their biggest challenge to date. When the dust had settled, the Hornets had handed the home team its first loss off the season, 27-26, but not without a score of its own down the stretch. After Mansfield had opened up double-digit leads on two separate occasions, the Warriors came charging back with a clock definitely on the visitor’s side. The Hornets had once again opened up the gap between themselves and the…
