Mansfield High School will perform a lockdown drill on April 2.
On April 2, Mansfield High School in conjunction with the Mansfield Police and Fire Departments will hold a lockdown drill. The drill is designed to make sure that students and staff know what to do in the event that the school would have to go into lockdown. "We feel it is critically important that we conduct these drills to proactively ensure that our school community remains a safe and secure environment," Mansfield High School principal Michael Connolly said. The drill should last about 15 minutes.

Entrepreneurship students make donation to the Corey Shea Memorial Scholarship
Through a grant provided by the Mansfield Education Foundation, Mrs. Prester’s Entrepreneurship students were successful in operating a small business during the winter trimester. The students pitched their business ideas to classmates, and as a group decided to design and sell Mansfield wristbands. The students took control of the entire business cycle by designing products, planning the marketing strategy, selling the products, and analyzing the finances. The students also chose to make a charitable donation to the Corey Shea Memorial Scholarship out of their profits. The $150 donation was presented to Denise Anderson, Corey Shea’s mother, by Mitch Levine, Andrew Simons, and Steven Dudley-Shipman. A limited amount of wristbands are …

Alexander Ruddy is accused of attacking another student with a belt, according to MyFoxBoston.com
Mansfield Police arrested high school football captain Alexander Ruddy for allegedly attacking another student with a belt earlier this month, according to MyFoxBoston.com . The 17-year-old junior has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. According to Fox, the alleged victim was a sophomore who was assaulted with a belt after gym class in a school locker room March 15. The student then went to the school nurse to receive care. Ruddy was arraigned in Attleboro District Court Friday and was released on personal recognizance. UPDATED 11:15 p.m. Officials took disciplinary action, according to myfoxboston.com, but didn't say what action was taken. Mansfield police also said high schools students reported the incident.

Hornets hit nine 3-pointers in a 57-53 loss to Foxborough Friday.
FOXBOROUGH – The Mansfield High School girls’ basketball team nearly pulled off an impressive upset Friday night in Foxborough thanks to the hot shooting of the Hornets’ guards. “Mansfield was getting some really good looks and they were hitting their threes and we just weren’t getting a hand in their face so most of them were uncontested shots but they were making them so hats off to [Mansfield],” said Foxborough head coach Lisa Downs. Mansfield wrestling wins big.
Mansfield defeated KP 43-33 Thursday night at Mansfield High School. Mansfield enjoyed a big night from it's seniors in pulling off the win in a close see saw battle. George Bezreh (126), Joe Herrick (138), Sam Borden (145), and Tyler McKay (195) all recorded 1st period pins for the Hornets. Sam McLoughlin had a hard fought 4-1 victory also. Juniors Jake McCaffrey (160), by 1st period pin, and Paul Bezreh (120), by major decision also won for Mansfield. The Hornets improved their record to 9-6 and next wrestle Saturday at Lawrence High School.

Mansfield High School teacher Claire Ingelfinger was selected as an Unsung Hero in the Saint Michael's College Teacher Recognition Program. "Through this program, we honor those teachers who provide their students with the academic skills and moral support necessary to be successful in post-secondary pursuits," said Jerry Flanagan, Saint Michael's Vice President for Admission and Enrollment Management. Claire Ingelfinger was nominated by Taylor Donnelly, who is a graduate of Mansfield High School and a current first-year student at Saint Michael's College. The Mansfield High wrestling team went 3-2 at their super quad match Saturday in Brockton. Mansfield defeated Danvers, 33-15, Brockton, 46-22, and Leominster, 42-27. They lost to Methuen, 50-19 and St. John's of Shrewsbury, 46-31. Senior captain Joe Herrick led the way for the hornets going 5-0 with foir pins. Max Trowbridge, (4-1, four pins) and Paul Bezreh (4-1, a pin), also had big days for Mansfield. Senior captain Sam McLoughlan, Jake McCaffrey, Shane Walsh and Sam Caskey each recorded three wins for the team. Mansfield improved their season record to 8-6 and next wrestle at the Marshfield Holiday Tournament Dec. 27 and28.

Mansfield boys' basketball team played well offensively and defensively against Sharon Friday.
The Mansfield High boys' basketball team soundly defeated Sharon, 70-51, at home on Friday in a game that was totally about depth of play. “This will be the first year since I started at least that we always play all 10 guys,” Mansfield head coach Michael Vaughan said. “It gives us energy off the bench… You know that they’re going to make some plays to stay out there and I think that was a huge luxery for us.” While Mansfield’s Ryan Boulter led the game with 19 total points (with five three-pointers), Sharon’s Brian Mukasa wasn’t far behind with 17 total points (three three-pointers). Mansfield Hornets tie Winthrop, 1-1, face King Philip Wednesday.
The Mansfield High boys' ice hockey team tied the Winthrop Vikings on Thursday after a back and forth battle on the ice. "You know it's only the first game of the year, but I think we need to do a bit more conditioning," said Mansfield head coach Rick Anastos. Mansfield and Winthrop vied relentlessly during the first period, during which time each incurred a penalty. While Mansfield was shorthanded, Hornet goalie Richard Shipman made three saves. The period ended with no score on either team. Mansfield struck first in the second period with a goal from Jared Collins, assisted by Kyle Hurley. Submitted by Tom Herrick. Mansfield participated in a quad match at Newton South high school. Mansfield defeated Brookline, 42- 21, and Newton South, 48-29. They lost to Lincoln Sudbury, 67-0. George Bezreh (120), Jake McCaffrey (160) and Sam Caskey (220) each had 2 wins and 1 pin on the day. Max Trowbridge (170) and Mike Chace (152) each had two wins by pin. Other wrestlers recording a pin were captain Joe Herrick (138), Victor Borborema (132) and Connor Burns(145). Mansfield takes their 2-1 record to Stoughton Wednesday night for their first Hockomock league match.

Awesome, thank god someone sees the truth. The media and the schools are trying to make this kid seem like a monster, he is not. He did a stupid thing and btw it was more of a towel whip.
