Clemmy Drops Out of Selectmen Race, All Town Races Now Unopposed

Karl Clemmy has decided to not run for a seat on the Mansfield Board of Selectmen in May's town election.

Bearing a strong write-in candidate at the last minute, every race in next month's town election will be unopposed. According to Town Clerk Marianne Staples, selectmen candidate Karl Clemmy has decided to not run for selectmen, taking away the only contested race on the ballot. The deadline for candidates to drop out of a race was April 11. With Clemmy now out of the race, Selectmen Chairman Olivier Kozlowski and Doug Annino will likely win reelection as the only two candidates for the two selectmen seats on the ballot. In other races, Lynn Cavicchi and Linda Fernando are the only candidates for the two school committee seats. Incumbent Lisa M. Losiewicz pulled papers but opted to not run for reelection. Town Election Update: Three will Run for Two Selectmen Seats, Three Candidates for Two School Committee Seats

The selectmen election and Mansfield School Committee race remain the only two contested races.

With two weeks to go before nomination papers are due, it is likely only two of the races on the ballot for May's town election will be contested. The selectmen race will feature at least two candidates with a third likely. Chairman Olivier Kozolowski has returned his nomination papers and will be on the ballot along with challenger Karl Clemmey. Incumbent Doug Annio has pulled papers but has yet to return with the minimum of 50 signatures needed to appear on the ballot for a town election. Clemmy has run for office in the past but has not been successful in seeking elected office. In the race for the two school committee seats, incumbent Lisa M. Losiewicz will face a challenge from Lynn M. Cavicchi and Linda B. Fernando. All three …

Races in Town Election Starting to Shape Up

Two weeks into the nomination process, residents have started to pull papers to run for office in this spring's town election.

Two weeks after nominations papers became available, the races in the Mansfield Town Elections are starting to shape up. In the race for the two available selectmen seats, Chairman Olivier Kozolowski has pulled nomination papers to run for reelection. Karl Clemmey has announced his intent to run for a selectman seat. Incumbent Doug Annio has yet to pull papers. Incumbent Lisa Losiewicz and Lynn Cavicci are the two potential candidates for the Mansfield School Committee. There will be two seats up for grabs. Both seats are three year terms. Both the race for Housing Authority and Moderator remain uncontested as incumbents Kevin Doyle and Robert Saquet are the only residents to pull papers in their respective races. Nomination Papers for May's Town Election Available Today

Potential candidates will have until March 26 to return their nomination papers.

Starting today, nomination papers will be available at the office of Town Clerk Marianne Staple for those seeking to run for office in the town elections on May 14. Positions on the ballot include the two selectmen seat held by Chairman Olivier Kozolowski and Doug Annino, two seats on the school committee held by Lisa Losiewicz and Jean Miller, Town Moderator held by Robert Saquet, and Housing Commissioner held by Kevin Doyle. Completed nomination papers will be due back to the Town Clerk no later than, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.  Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Wednesday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m.- noon.
