The following was submitted by John Bates, Chairmen of the Board of the Tri-Town Chamber: The Tri Town Chamber is once again well into executing its mission as the Voice of Business and the Community in Foxborough, Norton and Mansfield for 2013. If it's spring, it must be Monte Carlo time! Indeed, Tri Town’s next major event will be our annual Monte Carlo Night and Silent Auction from 6 to 9:30 PM on May 10 at Mansfield-Foxborough Holiday Inn. Attendees are given $2000 in Funny Money to play Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and Texas Hold ‘em. The public is welcome to come; we love to meet new people! The selectmen discussed the issue after receiving a request to hang an event banner featuring cooperate sponsors.
When the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce places their banner over Rt. 106 to promote their Monte Calro night fundraiser, it will against the practice of the selectmen to not approve banners featuring corporate logos. The 3-2 vote to allow the banner to hang near the North Common came after a discussion with members of the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce and the selectmen over if there is a place for the logos of businesses that sponsor events on banners. The banner in question is for the chamber’s Monte Carlo night and contains logos for businesses that are sponsors for the event. Mansfield Crossing will be transformed into a food lover’s paradise on Tuesday, October 2nd, when the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Oktoberfest. The program will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $12.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. Click here to see last year's event. The popular Oktoberfest program brings together dozens of local restaurants and food service providers in one place to share savory samplings of their most requested menu items. The Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce celebrated the winners of the Back to School Buy Local Contest last week at the Deutsche Bank Championship and at the Tri-Town Chamber offices in Mansfield. The Grand Prize Winner, Lily Holloway of Norton MA was joined by her mother, Annemarie, and grandparents at the Deutsche Bank Championship for a special celebratory breakfast. "What a wonderful show of community support for today's youth," Annemarie said. "It was awesome to see the positive responses to each of the finalists' essays. It is rare today, to see communities joyfully embrace the gifts that today's youth have to share -- what an awesome forum to be able to do this in!" What's new this month for the Tri-Town Chamber.
Congratulations to the Town of Norton for making such terrific progress on its High School renovation project. The Tri Town Chamberboard of directors greatly appreciated Greg Smolley from JCJ Architecture and Tom O’Neill from project management company Pinck and Company stopping by to provide an update on the project. Norton continues the tradition of celebrating its status as one of the oldest communities in the state. Building upon last year’s Tricentennial, the town is slated to celebrate Founders Day by way of a picnic and fireworks on Saturday, June 23.
