Fatal Car Crash in Mansfield

Two others are being treated for their injuries.

One person was killed in a single-car crash on Route 495 in Mansfield on Saturday night, according to State Police. 

Two of the car’s other occupants are being treated for their injuries at different hospitals.

The incident began at 6:20 p.m. when police received 911 calls for a single-car crash on Route 495 northbound near exit 13. Witnesses told police the car had left the road and gone into the tree line. Nearby witnesses also said other motorists had begun CPR on the car's occupants, who appeared to be seriously injured. 

Mansfield firefighters responded and quickly called for a MedFlight helicopter for one of the car's occupants who sustained life-threatening injuries. That occupant was taken to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston with life-threatening injuries. Another occupant who sustained non-life threatening injuries was taken to Sturdy Hospital. Firefighters transported the occupant that later died to Sturdy as well.

The right and breakdown lanes are closed as officers continue to investigate thee crash.
