Man Struck By Train in Mansfield

A man in his 30s, reportedly walking along the train tracks near the School Street Bridge in Mansfield--about half mile south of the train station, was struck by an Amtrak train en route to Boston at just after 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

According to the Sun Chronicle, the incident delayed train traffic for about three hours. A train carrying 146 passengers from Washington D.C. to Boston was stranded in Attleboro, before they were bused to the Route 128 stop at about 2 a.m.

Electrical power to the overhead wires for Amtrak trains was shut off as police and fire officials conducted an extensive search for the man; the fire department provided lighting for the investigation. No one on the train was injured.
